3-days Training of 40 Community Facilitators on ENDFGM Programme.
| Virgin Heart Foundation trained Forty (40) Community facilitators from Community Based Organizations were on FGM elimination and increase their knowledge on FGM laws and policies . The CFs demonstrated improved communication and advocacy skills Positive Behavioral Change and Shift in attitudes and pledged to end and take action against FGM. The training exposed CF to increase confidence in advocating against FGM. The Community Facilitators trained 300 Adolescent Gender Champions in 20 communities. There is an improved leadership skill to impact others. The training enabled the Community Facilitators in developing advocacy strategies, messages and approaches for local contexts towards ending FGM. The trained Community Facilitators further took action to mobilize their feminists platform to advocate for ENDFGM in Imo State and document their pledges in the website on the M4Good . A well structured training materials, pictures, videos, power points in different topics ( FGM overview/ awareness/ risk and consequences, human rights and laws, community engagement /mobilization strategies, communication and advocacy, leadership and empowerment, training methodologies, self-esteem and confidence building, peer education and support, competence domain, adolescence and puberty, monitoring and evaluation etc) that convey touching messages about FGM and dialogue, discussions and fully participation. The Community Facilitators now have an increased knowledge of the preventive and protective services available on female genital mutilation through UNICEF –UNFPA Supported Programme. |
