Community Facilitators from CBOs (Youth-Led, Women-Led & Male-Led) hold reflective dialogues on ending FGM to 14,000 individuals in 20 communities
- The programme on END Female Genital Mutilation FGM continues, where our organization trained 109 community facilitators from Women led, youth and men led on FGM elimination. The Community Based Organizations had increased knowledge on FGM laws and policies and skills to advocate by holding reflective dialogue and Conducting Household Reflective Dialogue.
- ACHIEVEMENTS
- Community Based Organization demonstrates increased collective efficacy and motivation to shift the social norms perpetuating harmful practices and create an enabling environment for change.
- Gate keepers, parents and families, traditional and religious leaders, and other community influence rs (M/F) and CBOs have increased awareness and in-depth understanding of the harmful effects of FGM and its role in perpetuating gender inequality.
- Strengthen capacity of youth and women-led CBOs to facilitate and scale up community engagement (for religious, traditional leaders, influencers, boys, girls, women and men) on the elimination of discriminatory gender norms and FGM
- 109 CBOs from Men-Led, Women-Led, Youth-Led and Religious-Led have demonstrated improved communication and advocacy skills after the training
- Shift in attitudes were seen in CBOs as 99 of the CBOs begin to publicly condemn FGM and CBOs trainees contributed to local policy changes.
- The Community based Organizations reached out to 14,000 people through reflective dialogue sessions in 20 communities in Imo State.
