VIRGIN HEART FOUNDATION MARKS 2021 AUGUST MEETING.

Virgin Heart Foundation went for two different August meetings on 19th August 2021 with women of umuosisi, Amuzi, Amorji, Umuololo, Okwu, Umuodu wards, and later moved to Umuaghara /Umuololo Wards all in Ogbeh Autonomous Community, Ahiazu Mbaise LGA for their August, 2021, where we created awareness . Part of our Message bordered on Women taking action towards ending FGM/C, Harmful Widowhood Practices, Sexual abuse, incest and Domestic Violence. The first ward visited yesterday had about 250 women while the second ward were about 150 participants(women) REACTION: On FGM/C and Harmful Widowhood Practices, There were so much argument about it, where a woman confronted us on going against existing traditional and culture on the name of civilization and some asked what option they have, if they are asked to stop the practices. August meeting provided the opportunity for us to meet and communicate with larger group of women from various wards in Ogbeh. We understand there are lots of work to be done in that area of changing their perceptions on some social norms. Objective: To support Community Actions towards adoption of positive Behaviors towards ending VAWG. Activity: Awareness Creation on addressing the identified social cultural norms that exacerbates VAWG in the Community during the women August Meeting.
