Virgin Heart Foundation with funding from #actionaidnigeria inaugurated Boys Peer Club, as champions of Change in St. Patrick’s Mission School, Ogbe, Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, Imo State, Nigeria.
Inducting the Peer Educators as Champions of Change, Anita Udeh, who facilitated the event, charged the boys on addressing the harmful socio-cultural within the School Environment and in their Communities. She reminded them of their roles to disabuse the perceptions of their mates, peers, friends and Families from holding on to social norms that exacerbates Violence Against Women and Girls and embrace positive Behavioral change, where the society can be made safe spaces for women and girls. The Executive Director, Virgin Heart Foundation, Peace Dike, expressed satisfaction, that the male peer Educators were equiped with information to bring about changes among their peers.She said the society will be better and inhabitable, when we catch them young and building values in young people. The Principle of the School, Reverend Father Asika Okafor, hints that the club activities in the school is a call for peace and change the society yearns for.He enjoined the boys to accept the responsibility as a healthy and spiritual exercise to influence others for a better society for women and girls and men.
